Botswali Agate is a nodular agate that comes from southern Africa, near Mozambique. The outer matrix can be smooth or pitted, and generally has few windows. Inner banding is typically monochromatic with little contrast, but a small percentage of nodules can contain more vibrant coloring like orange, red, and blues. Pseudomorphic inclusions, sagenite sprays, parallax, and amethyst centers are possible.
Size range: 1/2" - 4" pieces. Majority of nodules are within 1" - 3" long.
Pictured both wet and dry, with examples of quality cut specimens.
