Indonesian Bone Wood is not, in fact, bone at all. It is a type of petrified palm wood. Indonesian has the single largest deposit of petrified wood. When cut perpendicular to the palm trunk, the tubes display as an array of circles and dots. Petrified Palm Wood has a hardness of 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs Scale. The striking coloring makes for beautiful cabochons.
