MOR714cc Morrisonite Cabochon

$44.00

This polished Morrisonite cabochon shows overlapping egg patterning in cream, brown, and muted pink creamy jasper.

Please note: This cabochon had a flaw on the back edge that has been ground smooth along the back bevel, and is priced accordingly. It is not visible from the front, and would be easily covered in a bezel setting, but may require more planning with wire-wrapping.

29mm x 28mm

Morrisonite, also called Morrison Ranch Jasper, is considered among the finest jaspers in the world. It comes from Malheur County, Oregon, within the large region of the Owyhee Canyonlands that spreads across multiple states and produces many different types of plume agates and picture jaspers. It is among the very few jaspers that produce 'egg' patterning.

Collector Cabochons: Once in a while we cut a stone which is a rare or exceptional example of the material it was cut from. We group these items here and call them "Collector Cabochons". They can be and are used for jewelry, but sometimes are just collected and kept as they are.
