This Megalodon fossil tooth comes from the coast of South Carolina. The gray tooth and almost black root have been worn fairly smooth, but no significant portions have fractured away.
The otodus megalodon is an extinct species of shark that swam and lived in warm oceans globally, from the Miocene to Pliocene eras. The largest Megalodon tooth ever found has been just under 7 1/2 inches long!
