This Megalodon fossil tooth comes from the coast of South Carolina. The edges and root of the tooth have been worn fairly smooth, in dark gray and almost black.
The otodus megalodon is an extinct species of shark that swam and lived in warm oceans globally, from the Miocene to Pliocene eras. The largest Megalodon tooth ever found has been just under 7 1/2 inches long!
