This polished pair of Fishhook Thundereggs features reddish brown rhyolite with a partially open center revealing chalcedony coated in sparkling crystals. One half shows the cross section cut of orbicular rhyolite surrounded in crystal. Areas of the open center show fluorescence under UV light (picture shows the piece under 365nm).

Fishhook Thundereggs come from the Little Florida Mountains near Deming, New Mexico. These rhyolitic thundereggs can be partially hollow or completely filled. Quartz, calcite, chalcedony, and seams of faintly banded agate can all be found inside, along with yellow and red staining.
