These small hybrid petrified wood pieces come from a petrified wood collecting area across central western Wyoming. They show well-preserved bark texture on the outer crust as a result of an algae coating the original wood and creating a cast, later filled with chalcedony. Each piece has a polished face, with the other end left natural. The polished faces show brown, gray, cream, black, or combinations of colors, with intricate wood grain and occasional spots of translucent agate. Pictured with a quarter for size.
