This Red Velvet Agate polished specimen features white cloudy formations at the top and shades of red brecciated jasper in translucent gray agate, with thin open vugs showing hints of botryoidal chalcedony.

Red Velvet Agate comes from northern Mexico and typically shows translucent to white agate streaked with bright shades of red - like streaks of red velvet cake in white icing. It forms in veins and could also be called a jasp-agate as it combines translucent and opaque chalcedony. It can have feathery bands, brecciated patterning and moss agate, all in red hues from orange to 'fleshy' pinks or deep reds, or some golden yellows.
