Pietra Paesina is a beautiful limestone from the Tuscany region in Italy. The best material is typically found near Florence, and so it is also called Florentine Marble or Florence Stone. It has been prized for its inner pictures since the 1500s and slabs were popularly framed or used as ornament in furniture pieces, mosaics, or even directly painted on. No commercial collection site or mines have ever existed, adding to its rarity.
Collector Cabochons: Once in a while we cut a stone which is a rare or exceptional example of the material it was cut from. Sometimes, the material is so scarce that any cabochon created is a collectible. We group these items here and call them "Collector Cabochons". They can be and are used for jewelry, but sometimes are just kept and displayed as they are.
