This Indian Paint Stone cabochon has a matte finish. It shows muted shades of tan and burgundy with thick black patterning that resembles streaks of paint or ink.

Indian Paint Stone, sometimes called Indian Paintbrush Jasper or Death Valley Jasper, comes from the Mojave Desert in California. It is suspected to be a rhyolite or limestone rather than a true jasper. The site of the material source is now closed and within a national park.
