MTR126 Gibeon Meteorite

$400.00

The Gibeon Meteor fell in pre-historic Namibia, and was discovered and used by the local Nama people for tool use. The first written record of this meteorite's discovery is from 1836, when explorers for the British Army collected samples to be studied. Previously an abundant source of meteorites, all meteorites found in Namibia have been automatically protected as National Monuments since 1950, leading to a significant decrease in market availability. Gibeon meteorites show Thomson structures (also called Widmanstätten patterns) and have high iron content.
