Inca Agate, Nodular
Broken nodules of Inca Agate, 1 inch and larger. The main colors are red, purple, and pink with other colors possible. The main picture is of the rocks wet and in the secondary image the rocks are dry.
This banded nodular agate is founds high in the Andes Mountains of Peru, not far from the vein agate material of the same name. The nodules can also have pseudomorphic and sagenitic inclusions. The agates are collected near the surface there is a fair amount of fracturing in the agate. It is near impossible to get a fracture free cut on the larger nodules.
