Festive Fridays

    The holidays are approaching fast and The Gem Shop has many fun activities for the whole family planned this season!  Every Friday, from November 22nd until Christmas, Downtown Cedarburg businesses hold their annual Festive Fridays.  The stores are illuminated for the holidays and have fun holiday activities for the whole family.  

Here is The Gem Shop's schedule for Festive Fridays:

Friday, November 22nd, 6pm - 8:30pm: Fossil Excavating  Kids will be able to dig out 9 real fossils from plaster with a hammer and chisel and identify their found fossils using the colorful identification chart provided! Kits will be available for $7.

 - Friday, November 22nd, 5:30pm - 8pm &   Saturday, November 23rd, 1pm - 5pm: The Grinch   Grab your cameras as the Grinch will be visiting The Gem Shop!  Have your picture taken with the Grinch and help him get in the holiday spirit.

-Friday, November 29th, 6pm - 8:30pm: Making Ornaments   Create your own beaded gemstone ornament!  Kids will use gemstone beads, jingle bells, and ribbon to create a festive wreath ornament.  These handmade ornaments make perfect gifts for the holidays.  Kits are $3 each.

-Friday, December 6th, 7pm: Glacier Demonstration and Ice Cream Social   Come see a glacier demonstration using ice cream and learn how glaciers shaped Wisconsin landscapes.  Join us after for a cup of "glacier" ice cream!  This event is FREE!

-Friday, December 13th, 6pm - 8:30pm: Soapstone Putty   Did you know Silly Putty is made with soapstone?  Join us and learn how we use minerals in our everyday lives.  We will have soapstone putty experiments set up where you can create your own silly putty.  $3 per person.

-Friday, December 20th, 6pm - 8:30pm: Crackin' Geodes    Purchase a geode for $5 and crack it open!  Kids will be able to use the geode  cracker and see the beauty of the inside of a geode breaking open right before their eyes.
