Royal Imperial Jasper & Lake County Show

Royal Imperial Jasper

The Gem Shop has new Royal Imperial Jasper Specimen Pairs!  Royal Imperial Jasper is a variety of Imperial Jasper that is found near the border of Jalisco and Zacatecas, Mexico.  Royal Imperial Jasper is considered to be one of the five fine jaspers.  Royal Imperial Jasper is characterized by a pattern of overlapping concentric circles or ovals that is commonly referred to as an “egg pattern”.  The egg pattern does not form in the process of the formation of the host rock, but in the process of the formation of the jasper.  Royal Imperial Jasper forms mostly in nodules that vary in size from one inch to about six inches, and in shapes from smooth oval forms to irregular .  The outside of the nodule is very smooth and a chalk-like white to orange color.  The colors inside vary from pinks and browns to shades of blue and green.  View all of our Royal Imperial Jasper Specimens on our site: http://thegemshop.com/collections/specimens-2/imperial-jasper
