The word Fossil is derived from the Latin word fossus, literally meaning "having been dug up". Fossils are the preserved remains or traces of animals, plants, and other organisms from the past.

A mineral is a naturally occurring substance formed through geological processes that has a characteristic chemical composition, a highly ordered atomic structure, and specific physical properties.

The geologic age is listed for each fossil, and the chemical formula is shown for each mineral.
